Authorities say 52-year-old Michael Aston, the loss prevention manager at Kohl's on the Vestal Parkway, was arrested after an investigation by the Broome County district attorney's office.

Aston was charged with two counts of making a punishable false written statement. The charge is a misdemeanor.

Officials say Aston offered two written statements to Vestal police officers claiming he witnessed a grand larceny incident at the store.

An investigator for the district attorney's office concluded the statements signed by the manager were false.

Aston was ordered to appear in Vestal town court on March 7.
