Upstate Shredding Fatality Investigated

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is expected to investigate another death at an Owego recycling facility.

Tioga County Sheriff’s Deputies and fire departments in Tioga County were called to Upstate Shredding in Owego shortly after 11 Wednesday morning with a report of an incident involving two tractor trailers.

A 48 year old Oswego man was pronounced dead at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.  The name of the man, who was a driver of one of the tractor trailers, has not been released.

The investigation is continuing and no other information has been made available.

June 23^rd, 49 year old Michael Burke of Owego was killed at Ben Weitsman Recycling/Upstate Shredding.  The employee was hit by a front-end loader driven by another employee as he walked across the yard.
