New York State is a little closer to getting more casinos located outside of Native American lands.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation that moves forward a proposal that would build private casinos in the state, pending voter approval November 5.

The casinos a proposed for locations in the Southern tier, Catskills and the Albany area.

The governor has said he thinks the gambling parlors will help stimulate tourism in areas outside of New York City and make Upstate vacation destination locations.
