Union-Endicott and Vestal have had quite a rivalry on the football field for decades.  Often times they would meet late in the season as momentum built up to THE game of the year.  This time around the teams met in game three of the campaign at Dick Hoover Stadium in Vestal.

Using a solid second half the Tigers earned their first win of the season defeating the Golden Bears 29-6 Friday night.  U-E led by a point 7-6 at the end of the first half but used a 22 point second half to dominate the last two quarters and seal their first win of the season.

Running back Sammy Davis ripped off 186 yards rushing and one touchdown to pace the Tigers on the night.  Davis used his speed to get outside on the Vestal defense but also picked-up plenty of yardage between the tackles for a solid evening..He was able to gain substantial yardage despite losing a couple of fumbles as well.

Vestal's ground game was held in check by a tough Tiger defense.  Quarterback Nick Wegmann and running back Zach Cook combined for 382 yards on the ground in the Golden Bears 30-13 romp over Corning last week.  Versus U-E the tandem was held to  a total of 41 yards.

Coming up next week the Golden Bears travel to Alumni Stadium Friday to meet the Binghamton Patriots at 7 PM.  U-E will host Ithaca at 7 PM Saturday at Ty Cobb Stadium.  Both games will be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
