A Conklin woman was ordered held in Broome County jail following a child custody dispute in which she allegedly entered a residence without permission.

Authorities say 29-year-old Jacqueline Van Wert was charged with second-degree criminal trespass. A second woman, 26-year-old Peggy Perez of Endicott, faces the same charge.

According to state police, the arrests were made after a verbal dispute with a third person over child custody.

The women were said to have pushed their way by the person and entered the home on Conklin Road.

Troopers say Van Wert and Perez left the residence when police were contacted.

Van Wert was arrested at her home and arraigned in Conklin town court. She was ordered held on $1,500 bail.

Perez was arrested when she turned herself in at the state police office in Kirkwood. She was ordered to appear in Conklin town court next week.
