Bob Joseph/WNBF News

Two people were injured when they were thrown from a sport utility vehicle in Chenango County.

Authorities say the crash happened just before noon Tuesday on County Road 2 in the town of Greene.

According to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, the 2004 Jeep Wrangler was southbound when it went off the road. The vehicle struck an embankment and a tree.

Investigators say the driver and a passenger, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the SUV.

Police say vehicle was driven by 24-year-old Jesse Ehlers of Greene. They say 19-year-old Makayla Heisler of Greene was the passenger.

Ehlers and Heisler sustained head and back injuries. They were taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

Investigators say the crash was caused by unsafe speed for the curve and road conditions.
