A pickup truck crashed into two motorcycles on Route 26 in Broome County, leaving two people dead.

Authorities say the collision happened just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the town of Nanticoke.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred in the area of 3380 Route 26.

Investigators say a GMC pickup truck was northbound when it collided with the two southbound motorcycles.

The operators of the motorcycles were pronounced dead at the scene. A third motorcyclist who was riding with those who were killed was not hurt.

The sheriff's office Detective Division and the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit were called to investigate the crash.

The names of those who died were being withheld pending notification of relatives. The identity of the truck driver also was not immediately released.

Several fire departments and ambulance services assisted at the scene.
