Two Injured in Wegmans Can Recycling Machine Blast in Ithaca

Authorities in Tompkins County say two people suffered minor injuries following a small explosion in a can recycling machine inside the entrance to the Wegmans Supermarket store in Ithaca.

Ithaca Police say, in the early stages of the early stags of the criminal investigation, they don't know what caused the explosion or a possible motive.

The store remained open as shoppers were diverted to other entrances.

Officials say the victims had suffered injuries to their upper bodies and hands.
