Two Broome County residents have been indicted on murder charges in connection with the death of a man whose decaying body was found in an apartment on Binghamton's West Side.

38-year-old Ariana Edwards and 31-year-old Bradley Miles are accused of causing the death of Michael Thomas.

Police discovered the man's body in an apartment at 11 Mather Street on September 8. Neighbors reported a "terrible smell" in the building. They said they had noticed the odor for several days but only notified police when the stench became unbearable.

A Broome County grand jury indicted both Edwards and Miles on two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree robbery.

According to the indictment, Edwards and Miles were involved in a robbery that resulted in the death of the 38-year-old Thomas. A knife was used in the incident, although the cause of death was not made public.

Investigators believe Thomas died 17 days before police were called.

Edwards and Miles were arrested separately on unrelated charges last September. They've been held in Broome County Jail since then.
