Two people are being treated for injuries suffered in an apartment building fire in Norwich May 29.

Emergency Services officials say the blaze was reported at around 10:45 p.m. at the building on Fair Street.

Two people in a third floor apartment were trapped by flames and were rescued through a window by firefighters.

Aaron Hicks and Jenna Johnson were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital but then flown to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse, where, at last report, they were listed in serious condition.

The American Red Cross is assisting another two adults and two children from the building.

Authorities say firefighters from Norwich, North Norwich, Sherburne and Oxford as well as ambulance units and fire investigators were on the scene for over four hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but authorities say an electrical problem is suspected.
