Pennsylvania State Police are investigating two fatal crashes over the course of a couple days in Susquehanna County.

21 year old David Cavalieri of Vlanding was driving on State Route 374 in Herrick Township at around 6:30 p.m. February 19 when his car veered into the oncoming lane, hitting another vehicle driven by a 58 year old Thompson man.

Cavalieri, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19 year old passenger in Cavalieri’s vehicle, who also was not wearing a seatbelt, and the driver of the second vehicle were taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment.

Shortly before 3 a.m. February 21, 23 year Andrew Mazza of Forest City was killed when the vehicle he was in left Barlow Road in Gibson Township and went into a creek.

A 16 year old girl and a 20 year old Waymart man were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Troopers say Mazza was pronounced dead at the scene while one of the other occupants was rescued from the vehicle but the other got out and called for help.

The investigations into both crashes are continuing.
