Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]A Binghamton woman has been accused of giving synthetic marijuana to a Broome County Jail inmate.

Authorities say an officer who was supervising a jail visitation session saw 24-year-old Maria Nieves-Colman place something into the pocket of an inmate.

The officer took the contraband from the inmate, 31-year-old Hasheem McQueen of Binghamton.

Investigators say the material turned out to be synthetic marijuana and several matches.

Nieves-Colman and McQueen were arrested on Wednesday. They each were charged with two counts of promoting prison contraband.

Nieves-Colman was arraigned in Conklin town court and released on her own recognizance.
