Two Binghamton Wrestlers Look For National Championships
Two Binghamton University wrestling standouts are headed to Oklahoma City and the NCAA 2014 Division I Wrestling Championships which will be held this week. Senior 197-pound Cody Reed and junior 125-pound David White will represent the Bearcats in competition at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
It is the third consecutive NCAA appearance for Reed. With a record of 27-10 he is coming out of the EIWA Championships where he finished runner-up. White went 4-2 at the EIWA Championships for a fourth place finish and an automatic berth in the national event. Overall, White is 26-11 this season.
Reed will face ninth-seed Christian Boley from Maryland in the first round. The two met in the 2012 NCAA Championship first round where Reed upset the then number four-seed Boley winnning 2-1. White will face 12th-seed Tim Lambert out of Nebraska in the opening round. Lambert is a redshirt freshman who finished fifth in the Big Ten Championships.
