Authorities are looking for whoever tossed two Beagles out of the window of a moving sports utility vehicle on Interstate 81 near Marathon at around 9:30 a.m. December 12, injuring both of the dogs.

A Good Samaritan truck driver who witnessed the incident stopped to help the animals before the B.C. Humane Society arrived.

The truck driver and New York State Police worked to stabilize the dogs, including splinting the leg of one of the dogs that suffered severe injuries. That animal is undergoing intensive care at a veterinary center while the other dog is recovering at the B.C. Humane Society.

Anyone with information about the dark-colored, possibly blue SUV is asked to call New York State Police at (607) 775-1241.  Troopers say they hope a dash cam on the trucker’s vehicle may provide some information.

The B.C. Humane Society Facebook page includes an appeal to help pay for the care of the injured dogs.  (*note, video and photos on the group's Facebook page showing both dogs may be disturbing.) Information on the Binghamton shelter can be found at www.bchumanesoc.com.
