The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the residents of a Johnson City home damaged by fire overnight.

The two alarm blaze on Grand Avenue near the Route 201 overpass was reported at around 12:30 a.m. August 29.

Firefighters from Johnson City were assisted by the Binghamton Fire Department while several volunteer companies were on standby.

There were no early reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross said it was called to assist three adults and three children.
