Twin Tiers residents went to bed with clear roads and yards only to awake to snow, slippery conditions and school announcements Wednesday morning.

The majority of New York schools opted for delays while several Pennsylvania schools just closed with heavier snow projected for the Northern Tier.

The National Weather Service overnight had issued a winter weather advisory for Northeast Pennsylvania and athe Western Catskills of New York through the afternoon with up to five inches of snow possible.

The precipitation was mixing with freezing rain to the South in the Scranton area.

Numerous minor crashes were reported through the morning commute hours all around the Greater Binghamton area.
