Broome County Sheriff’s officials are warning people to be aware of  increased incidents of collisions involving vehicles and deer at this time of year following a serious crash on Interstate 88 in the Town of Fenton.

Authorities say a 2000 Toyota pickup truck hit a deer shortly before 8 p.m. October 28 and the driver lost control.

The truck left the highway and overturned, ejecting the driver, who was found, unconscious, about thirty feet from where the pickup came to rest.

A passenger suffered a minor injury.

No other information about the condition of the driver has been released.

Authorities say changes in weather and the deer mating season increase the danger of collisions.  Drivers should be especially watchful for deer crossing roadways at dusk, after dark and toward morning.
