A Pennsylvania man was accused of driving while intoxicated after a tractor-trailer went off Interstate 81 in Kirkwood and wound up stuck in a creek.

Authorities say 51-year-old Wayne Davis of Moosic was the driver of the Dimare Fresh produce truck that overturned shortly after 1:30 Friday morning.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Davis was taken into custody at the scene after deputies determined he was impaired.

Davis was charged with DWI in the operation of a commercial vehicle. He also faces counts of driving while using a hand-held device and unsafely moving from a lane.

Davis was released after he was processed at the sheriff's office in the town of Dickinson. He's been ordered to appear in Kirkwood town court at a future date.

One northbound lane of I-81 was closed for several hours while workers removed the wrecked rig from the creek in the center median of the highway.
