A 74-year-old Chenango Bridge man died after he was run over by a tandem tractor-trailer rig at a Maines Paper and Food Service facility in Conklin.

Authorities say Michael Harding of Davis Road was struck by the truck at the company's distribution center on Broome Corporate Parkway. The incident was reported to the Broome County Sheriff's Office at 1:59 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say Harding was dead when a sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene.

Officials late Friday said the death had been ruled accidental after an autopsy was performed at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. They said Harding died due to blunt force trauma.

Authorities believe Harding fell from a parked tractor-trailer as he was entering the cab. There was steady rainfall at the time.

Harding apparently was struck and killed as a tandem tractor-trailer pulled away from the loading dock area.

The name of the driver of the truck that hit Harding was not released by the sheriff's office.
