Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]New York State Police in the region say they’ve noticed an increase in tractor trailer traffic on Route 17, probably due to Governor Cuomo banning large commercial trucks from sections of Interstate 81 and the New York State Thruway, December 10, due to weather conditions.  Law enforcement officials say that resulted in an increase in crashes as well.

Meanwhile, authorities are reminding motorists during winter weather to give road crews room to plow.  Drivers are urged not to pass plow trucks, especially on the right.

The region picked up about 3 to 5 inches of snow overnight, December 10-11, and the National Weather Service was predicting a small amount of additional accumulation before the storm moves out of the area.

Motorists should give themselves plenty of time to clear snow from their vehicles and allow for additional travel time during winter storms.

There have been reports of thousands of people without power across New York State, mainly in the Albany area in the wake of the current storm.
