Travel Agent Accused of Defrauding Couple

A Central New York woman is accused of bilking a couple looking to celebrate their wedding anniversary out of thousands of dollars.

46 year old Jane Ayre of Unadilla is charged with felony scheme to defraud.

She’s accused of stealing $13,000 from the couple who paid her to book a trip to Italy for their 50^th anniversary and keeping the money without applying it to the trip.

Ayre ran travel agencies in Endwell and Oneonta.

Investigators say Ayre took checks and made charges against the couple’s credit card.

The couple apparently found out about the problem when they were notified the trip had been canceled due to non-payment.
