No injuries are reported after a freight train derailed in Marathon May 28.

New York State Police say the 100 car train operated by New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway had eight cars leave the track just after a train crossing on East Main Street near the train depot at 7:11 a.m.

While one of the cars was a tanker, it was empty and authorities say there were no hazardous materials on the train.

The railway corporation’s Chief Investigator is looking into the cause.
