An average of 14,000 vehicles pass through the intersection daily. Collisions involving large trucks have caused growing concern for motorists and village officials.

Pavement markings will be changed to alter the approach for eastbound vehicles prior to turning onto North Avenue.

DOT representatives say new markings could be in place before winter. Other minor changes are planned to make the intersection safer.

Adjustments also are to be made to traffic signals. The DOT will continue to monitor the intersection to assess the impact of the changes.
