New York State Police say they are investigating the crash of a tractor trailer on Interstate 81 Northbound just four miles inside the state line that sent the rig down a 50 foot embankment.

Officials say the tractor trailer left the highway at around 1:30 a.m. March 29 for unknown reasons.  The driver was not hurt.

The rig was expected to be pulled out after 9 a.m.  That operation was expected result in the closing of the left-hand lane on the southbound interstate.

The tractor trailer was reportedly carrying appliances, including refrigerators but no hazardous materials had apparently spilled.
