Town of Union Woman Accused of Stealing Thousands

A Union Center woman has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing nearly $11,000 from the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club.

Authorities say 43-year-old Valerie Demkovich of Payne Road was arrested Tuesday.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Demkovich had been an employee of the Boys and Girls Club on Erie Street in the village of Owego.

Investigators say Demkovich is allaged to have made $10,828 worth of unauthorized personal purchases on a credit card belonging to the club.

The purchases are said to have occurred during 2011 and 2011.

Demkovich was arraigned before an Owego village court justice. She was released on her own recognizance.

Demkovich was ordered to return to court February 12.
