Several projects in the town of Union may benefit from federal assistance that's expected to be available for the coming fiscal year.

Town officials say about $1.2 million is expected to be available under the Community Development Block Grant program.

Two street reconstruction projects are included in the town's plan for using the money.

In Endicott, the 200 block of Loder Avenue would be rebuilt. In Johnson City, Concord Street between Brocton Street and Pratt Avenue would be reconstructured.

Improvement projects also are planned at the SOS Shelter and at the Boys and Girls Club in Endicott.

The town board has scheduled a public hearing on the overall plan for 7:30 p.m. July 17. The session is to be held at the Union Town Hall on East Main Street in Endwell.

Written comments about the plan may be submitted to the town planning department through July 26.

The town board is expected to adopt a final plan for the grant money at its August 7.
