Residents and elected officials in the Town of Union say they are frustrated by how long it's been taking to recover from the unprecedented flooding of 2011.

Public forums on the town's ReUNION Project 2020 are being held to discuss long-term plans for housing, parks and recreation facilities and other recovery issues.

At a recent session, there were complaints about the slowness of financial and other assistance to residents, business and town infrastructure recovery efforts.

Meanwhile, regarding the most recent flooding in the Southern Tier and Central New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo has said unless the federal government moves forward quickly on assistance for affected areas, he will call the state legislature back to address offering state assistance.

An emergency declaration was made by Cuomo earlier this month for 15 counties.  He's also requested a federal disaster declaration and written to President Barack Obama asking for his help in pushing through the help.
