Several candidates for office in the town of Union are expected to participate in a public forum next week.

The group Town of Union Citizens Against Fracking has organized the event, which will allow candidates an opportunity to discuss all issues of concern to town residents.

It's scheduled to be held Tuesday, October 23, at 7 p.m. at the Endicott Visitor Center at 300 Lincoln Avenue.

Forum coordinator Erin Riddle said Rose Sotak and Jack Cheevers, the candidates for town supervisor, have been invited to participate.

Riddle said Cheevers had agreed to attend. As of Monday afternoon, Riddle said there had not been a response from Sotak.

Riddle said the candidates for the town board, including incumbents Tom Augostini and Frank Bertoni, and challengers Frank Palmisano and Bill Tastle, all have indicated they plan to participate.

Bob Joseph, host of WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, will be the moderator.
