Towanda Woman Dies in Franklin Township Crash

A Towanda woman is dead following a two vehicle crash in Franklin Township.

Pennsylvania State Police say 48 year old Hila Strope was driving east on State Route 414 when a truck driven by 64 year old William Schaen of Grantsville, Maryland approached in the opposite lane.

Officials say Strope lost control of her Chevrolet Impala for an unknown reason, over-corrected and crossed over the road onto the westbound berm. When her vehicle re-entered the road, Schaen’s truck hit Strope’s vehicle on the driver’s side door, spinning the car around.

Strope as pronounced dead at the scene.  Schaen suffered a minor injury.

The investigation is continuing.
