Emergency Service dispatchers in the Towanda, Pennsylvania Police Department this morning say reports that there were mandatory evacuations on Plank Road in Towanda Township and Sugar Creek Road in North Towanda Township are incorrect.

At 4 a.m., the authorities reported to WNBF there were no evacuations but confirmed there had been what they described as "a minor crack" in a natural gas line in Bradford County near the Farr Well Site, which was being taken care of by the gas drilling company.

The story had been picked up from a facebook posting, which has not been attributed to any official source and had been forwarded by a number of media organizations.

Again, the Towanda Borough Police dispatchers have said this morning that there were NO evacuations due to the crack in a gas pipe.
