Binghamton men's basketball coach Tommy Dempsey has received a two-year contract extension which will carry through the 2018-19 season. He originally signed a five-year contract and had two more years to go on that deal.

The extension was announced by Binghamton Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott.  Elliott said "Tommy has done a great job building a strong foundation for the future success of our program. I am excited as our program takes the next steps forward."

Dempsey's team was the youngest at the Division I level this season often starting four freshmen and one sophomore.  The Bearcats played six games against 2015 NCAA tournament teams and earned a number 6 seed for the America East post-season tournament.  The team's top two scoreres, Willie Rodriguez and Romello Walker are freshmen and Rodriguez was named to the America East All-Rookie Team this season.
