Tioga Woman Accused Of Stealing From Fire Department

A long-time treasurer of a volunteer fire department in Tioga County has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars.

Authorities say 33-year-old Jennifer Grier of Spencer was arrested by New York State Police.

Investigators say Grier is suspected of stealing more than $3,000 from the Spencer Fire Department while she was its treasurer. She had held the position since 2004.

Police say Grier allegedly started taking money from the department during the summer of 2011. She has been charged with third-degree grand larceny.

Grier was ordered to appear in Spencer town court on May 14.

Officials say more bank records are being obtained for the ongoing investigation.
