56-year-old Donald McManus of Apalachin also was sentenced in Vestal town court to three years of probation.

McManus last March pleaded guilty to fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, a misdemeanor, in a deal with state prosecutors.

Investigators had said McManus sold leftover copper that had been used as part of the East Campus Dorm Construction Project when he worked for LeChase Construction Services.

McManus was the project executive who supervised the company's construction team and some of the subcontractors who were working on the project.

Temporary copper wire was used as part of the project. When the wire was no longer needed, it was sold. The proceeds were supposed to then be turned over to Binghamton University.

McManus admitted he kept the money from the copper wire sales. He has agreed to repay $8,256.59.

Under his probation, McManus is prohibited from working in a construction job or in any capacity for Binghamton University.
