Prosecutors in Tompkins County say 33-year-old Matthew Williams of Candor was sentenced to six years in state prison.

Judge Gerald Keene also sentenced Williams to ten years of post-release supervision.

Williams had been convicted in May of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Williams had been accused of buying alcohol for two 12-year-old girls and driving them to a campsite in Danby State Forest. He then was said to have provided alcohol to them before sexually abusing one girl in the back of his pickup truck.

Authorities said the girls ran away from Williams and hid in the woods for hours. They were found around 7 a.m. the following day.
