Tioga Man Charged With Unlawful Imprisonment

A Newark Valley man was being held in Tioga County Jail following a reported domestic dispute.

Authorities say 37-year-old Ronald Benson of Wilson Creek Road was arrested after he allegedly kept a person confined in a bedroom for "an extended period of time."

Investigators say Benson was armed with a knife during the incident.

Benson was charged with unlawful imprisonment, reckless endangerment and menacing.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Benson was arraigned in Newark Valley town court. He was ordered held on $5,000 bail.
