Tioga County Man Accused of Stealing Several Guns

Authorities say they've made an arrest in connection with the theft of five long guns in Tioga County.

Investigators say 21-year-old Brandon Schmeltz of Dawson Hill Road, Spencer, was charged with third-degree grand larceny. He also faces a count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Schmeltz was arrested Saturday afternoon.

Officials say Schmeltz is accused of taking five long guns and other property without permission. He also allegedly failed to return a vehicle.

Schmeltz was arraigned in Owego town court and sent to Tioga County Jail on $20,000 bail. He was ordered to appear in Town of Spencer court on April 12.
