Damage from flash flooding overnight September 17-18 is continuing to complicate travel in the Southern Tier.

Tioga County Legislative Deputy Chair, Dale Weston has declared a State of Emergency in the county.

Michael Simmons, Tioga County Director of Emergency Services and Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard advised no unnecessary travel in the county with some water over roads, damage to roads, bridges and culverts and some State, County and local roads closed due to water and debris.

The order restricts county roads to emergency vehicles only.

The State of Emergency is not a total ban on travel but if the trip is not necessary, motorists should stay off the roads to allow crews to remove debris and make repairs to allow for safe travel.
