Tioga County Fire Coordinator Dies

The Tioga County fire coordinator died after he was struck by a vehicle while working at a communications tower site.

Authorities say 71-year-old John Scott of Campville was hit by county pickup truck at the radio tower property on Carmichael Road in the Town of Owego.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Scott was hit as the truck backed up. He was pronounced dead at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

Officials say Scott and several other county employees were at the tower performing radio maintenance.
