New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July may be a little louder in Tioga County.

The legislature has unanimously approved a local law to allow the use of sparklers and small fireworks.

33 counties in New York State now have limited fireworks approval following a relaxing of a state law.

Certain fireworks that launch, like bottle rockers, are still illegal state-wide.

In Tioga County, fireworks sales will only be permitted June 1 through July 5 and December 26 to January 2.
