The Tioga Central School District has a new budget.

Following one failed attempt, voters have okayed a plan with a 17.3% tax levy increase in a super-majority of 1,076 for and 441 against the adoption.

The new budget comes after Tioga Downs owner, Jeff Gural offered a close to $300,000 contribution to the district of over the next 2 school years.  That, along with some position cuts, trimmed the original 30% tax levy increase to what apparently was a more palatable 17.3% increase.

Meanwhile, approval of a school budget in Walton wasn't so easy.

The district's proposed $20.5 million spending plan squeezed through by one vote, being approved 511-510.
