Time Warner Cable television customers soon will be learning new digital channel numbers for their favorite services.

The company plans to introduce a theme-based channel lineup on October 22 in the Binghamton area. Time Warner users in other parts of central New York and Pennsylvania also will notice a revised lineup.

The lineup will group channels into themes, such as entertainment, news and sports.

Time Warner officials say the change will make it easier for people to find the programming they want to watch and to discover other content.

The company says DVR and parental control settings will transition automatically.

The revised digital lineup will be implemented October 22 in several communities, including Binghamton, Owego, Whitney Point, Oneonta, Montrose and Sayre.

Similar changes already have been made on other Time Warner Cable systems.

There's more information about the theme-based lineup at Time Warner Cable's website.
