The cable guy may not be wearing a new uniform yet but his old Time Warner truck has a new look.

The company was acquired earlier this year by Charter Communications in a deal worth a reported $55 billion.

The Time Warner Cable name is gradually disappearing. Charter decided to establish a new identity for a brand that became known for customer service issues.

The cable company eventually will be known as Spectrum. The timetable for the transition has not been made public.

In an email, Charter Communications spokeswoman said the company is looking forward "to launching the Spectrum brand in Upstate in early 2017." The statement indicated the news division also will bear the Spectrum name.

Charter representatives were not available Wednesday to discuss any changes cable television customers can expect in the coming months.

The company's New York City news channel - NY1 - began using the Spectrum name this month.

It's unclear how the Binghamton news operations will be affected by the recent acquisition.
