Three people are dead following a one-car crash on Route 23 in Otsego County.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Dillon Clemens of Plymouth, and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers were identified as 22-year-old Jordan Crandall of Norwich and 22-year-old Christopher Brissette II of Sherburne.

According to state police, the crash was reported at 3:14 a.m. Saturday in the Town of Morris, northwest of Oneonta.

Investigators say the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta had been traveling west on Route 23 when the driver lost control of the car on a curve. The vehicle went off a shoulder and struck several objects before rolling over and coming to rest in a field. The car was on fire at after the crash.

Police say excessive speed was a factor.

The bodies of the vehicle's occupants were taken to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton for autopsies.
