Three standout members of the Binghamton Mets have received honors from the parent New York Mets.  Slugging first baseman Allan Dykstra has been named the Sterling Minor League Organization Co-Player of the Year.  Two pitching standouts, Noah Syndergaard and Jeff Walters were selected as the Sterling Award winners at the Double-A level.  The Sterling Award goes to top players at each developmental level.

Syndergaard joined Binghamton in late June after starting the season at Class A St. Lucie.  He went 6-1 in 11 starts and had an ERA of 1.59.  The 21 year-old Syndergaard was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in the R.A. Dickey deal.

Walters emerged as the premier closer in the Eastern League, nailing down 38 saves, second most in the history of the Eastern League.  Those saves were the most compiled in Minor League Baseball this season.
