New York State Police say one of three people arrested for drug possession during a traffic stop is facing an additional charge of aggravated driving while under the influence of drugs under Leandra’s Law, since a three year old child was a passenger in the vehicle.

Officials say 36 year old Rhonda Couch of Marathon was driving the car on Interstate 81 in the Town of Homer Wednesday, February 17, when she was pulled over and the vehicle was searched.

Couch is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia, and DWAI.

Passenger, 21 year old Taylor Latta of Homer, whose child was in the car, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Another passenger, 39 year old Thelvan Hardy of Syracuse is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance.

State Police say they found powder and crack cocaine, a digital scale with cocaine residue, cellophane wrappers, stem pipes, a marijuana pipe, $2,871 and a cell phone in their search.

Police say the toddler was turned over to a family member following the arrests.
