Record high temperatures were recorded across New York and Pennsylvania with less than two weeks remaining in summer.

A thirty-year-old record at the National Weather Service office at Greater Binghamton Airport in the town of Maine was broken Wednesday afternoon. The previous record high for the date had been 87.

The hot, humid conditions caused some concern for student athletes in the region.

The Cincinnatus Central School in Cortland County canceled all Wednesday afternoon and evening athletic competitions because of the excessive heat. A school official said the action was taken as a precaution.

It'll be much cooler Friday and Saturday with the National Weather Service predicting highs in the low sixties each day.
