Plenty of comments have been made but no vote yet in the Town of Union on a proposal to develop a resort and casino at Traditions at the Glen.

The Town Board had a public hearing at which 18 people gave comments for about 40 minutes.

Those speaking against the development on Watson Boulevard said they were worried about issues that ranged from a possible increase in crime and unmanageable traffic to an increase in gambling addiction problems.

The Traditions Resort and Casino developers say they expect the preliminary development plan will be approved by the Town Board at the October 1st meeting.

The New York commission tasked with granting four casino licenses in the state is holding several hearings prior to making a decision.

The meeting for the Eastern Southern Tier Region that includes proposals from Tioga Downs in Nichols, Traditions and the Lago Resort and Casino in Tyre, Seneca County, is to be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. September 24 in Tompkins County the ballroom of the Hotel Ithaca on South Cayuga Street.
