Thawing Pipes is Blamed for Binghamton Fire

Fire officials say it appears a Binghamton resident was trying to thaw out pipes and sparked a fire at a house on Munsell Street.

The blaze was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. February 7.

No one was home at the time.

There were no injuries reported.

Officials say the resident appeared to be trying to thaw pipes but left the thawing mechanism unattended.
