A Binghamton man is accused of trying to steal prescription pills from a home on River Road in the Town of Chenango before being restrained by residents.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say 22 year old Michael Nicholas was confronted by family members when he allegedly attempted to steal the medication on Thanksgiving and became combative.

Relatives held him down until Deputies arrived and he began to fight with them.

At one point, Nicholas is accused of spitting in the face of a Deputy who was trying to calm him down.

He’s charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Nicholas was sent to the Broome County Jail.
