Tenney on Trump Fundraiser: "It's Sticker Shock to Me"

People who attend a fundraising event for Rep. Claudia Tenney featuring President Trump will have to pay between $1,000 and $15,000 for the opportunity.

Trump is scheduled to appear at a Utica reception for Tenney Monday afternoon.

Tenney, who represents New York's 22nd District, acknowledged the price to participate sounds high.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Friday, the Oneida County Republican said "it's sticker shock to me" in referring to the ticket prices for the event.

Tenney said "from what I'm finding out, it's actually one of the most reasonable and lowest-priced fundraisers" that Trump has held. She said a ticket for the "roundtable level" is $15,000. She said the cost for a picture and reception with the president is $5,000 while the general admission charge is $1,000.

Tenney said the roundtable tickets sold out "very quickly" because "people know that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to have a discussion with the president "for that kind of price."

The congresswoman said her Democratic challenger, Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, had a "huge fundraiser" in New York City with Governor Cuomo and "billionaires from all around who came and paid probably even more for that."

Tenney would not say where in Utica the private fundraiser with Trump will be held, citing security reasons. She also declined to say how many people are expected to attend the event.
